David Kastin is a New York City based artist.

Born in New York City and having spent his adult life there, he has used the people and the landscape of the city as inspiration. David has worked at some of the top hair salons in the city, using hairdressing as an expression of his creativity. Having cut hair for the better part of 40 years, David was looking for another creative outlet. After watching a random video of an object being dropped into a bowl of milk, fascinated by the slow motion splash and subsequent splatter, David was inspired and inkart began.

In January 2020 the first drops of ink hit a piece of rice paper.

Layering colors using droppers and mister bottles, David has used all types of objects, from word discs and stars to radiator grilles, to create negative space against the splatter. As he finds ways to make art out of the by-products of previous pieces, the evolution continues. David is inspired by experimenting with new ways to re-use, re-purpose and recycle to create new inkart projects.

When he is not cutting hair or making inkart David can be found DJing one-off gigs around the city, sharing his love of music and vinyl.

David is currently living and working in Brooklyn, New York
